Ways to Help

Financial Donations

We gratefully accept financial donations, as they help us continue and enhance our holistic caring for refugees and survivors of torture. The Center is committed to serving those in need regardless of their status or ability to pay.

Your donation helps us offer our dynamic program, which goes beyond the traditional medical model to meet our patients' needs, and a growing demand for care. We hope you will join us as a partner in further developing our unique and integrated model of care, which has much to offer locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally to the health and well-being of some of societies’ most vulnerable members.

Consider donating new and/or used books that are in good condition to our library. Especially needed are resource materials for teaching English as a second language. To arrange a donation please contact Erica Hastings via email at erica.hastings@bmc.org. Thank you for your help!

Internships and Volunteer Opportunities

Interns and Volunteers:

BCRHHR is looking for highly motivated people with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support our mission.  Internships and volunteer opportunities involving direct client contact are rare and determined on a case by case basis.  Most opportunities are administrative or research oriented.

Our interns:
• Are students in an accredited educational program
• Work for a fixed period with a set number of hours per week. Eight hours is the minimum per week, and a total of 100 hours is an acceptable minimum commitment.
• May work for credit or a University provided stipend, but are not paid by BCRHHR.
• Must have an affiliation agreement between the University and Boston Medical Center. It is highly recommended to apply well before your desired start date.

Our volunteers:
• May be in an accredited educational program, but may not want to receive school credit.
• May volunteer for special events, short-term projects, or for a number of years.
• If selected as a candidate, must also apply through BMC’s Department of Volunteer Services.

Any qualified individual can apply. The application process is easy:
1. To apply, email your cover letter, clearly outlining your duration and hours of availability along with your resume to erica.hastings@bmc.org.
2. You will be contacted if you are selected as a candidate.
